FAQ

Q: When will the Aquarium be built? Why is the Aquarium Art Walk being held now?
In 2019, Brevard Zoo launched The Aquarium Project, designed to raise awareness for a future Aquarium by engaging the community in a series of volunteer-led activities. The Aquarium Art Walk is one of these volunteer-driven projects – with its goal of using the powerful connection of art to raise awareness across Brevard County, home of the future Aquarium.

At present, the Aquarium groundbreaking is a few years away, but community support for the future Aquarium is essential to it becoming a reality. Be a part of the future of Brevard County and Brevard Zoo.

Q: Do I have to donate my artwork?
The Aquarium Art Walk is NOT accepting donations. All artists whose work is selected by the jury will LOAN their work for a period of three months.

Q: Will my artwork be for sale?
This is a great opportunity to publicize or sell your work. All artists have the option of offering their artwork for sale. Each work will have accompanying signage. At the bottom of each sign, artists may indicate the work is for sale and may include contact information for buyers to reach them directly. The Aquarium Art Walk will not be using galleries as venues so no gallery or other commissions will be applied to any artwork on display.

Q: Where will my artwork be installed?
Venues for the artwork will be determined by Dec 1st. Possible venues include, retail outlets, malls, libraries, Town or City Halls, Chambers of Commerce, movie and other theaters, etc. Artist suggestions for venues are appreciated and will be considered.

Q: Will my artwork be installed at the Aquarium?
Please know there are NO plans at this point for any of these works to be installed at the aquarium or permanently at the venue where it will be displayed.

Q: How will this artwork be juried?
Works will be evaluated based upon their relevance to the Aquarium or Indian River Lagoon themes and based upon their artistic merit and creativity.

A cross-discipline jury, including peer artists, educators, Brevard Zoo and Aquarium Art Walk Team members, will review the submissions.

Q: Will my artwork stand alone?
Most venues will have multiple works of art on display.
